A free exercise for your beauty business
By the end of this exercise, you'll have the blueprint for making your beauty business a success.
Imagine knowing how to show people what's special about your business every time they come across it.
On your website.
On Instagram.
In a consultation.
When they ask what you charge.
And having it all give them the same feeling: “This is the business I want to book with.”
Think about what that would change.
- You sit down to write a post. You know what your clients care about, what to say, and how to say it in your own voice. You hit publish feeling proud of it.
- You build or update your website. You know what it needs to say, which photos belong there, and how you want it to feel. You can explain what you want to the person building it.
- A client asks why they should choose you. You can explain the care, skill, and experience they get when they book with you. You speak with confidence because you know what makes your work worth choosing.
- You choose photos, colours, or a new logo. You know what fits your business and the clients you want. Your website, your posts, and your studio feel like they belong together.
Every part of your business starts working together.
You know what makes you worth choosing.
You know who you're for.
And you know how to show it.
That's why we believe figuring this out is the single most important thing you can do for your business.
By the end of this exercise, you'll have a blueprint for building a successful beauty business.
Your answers, written down in one place, ready to guide the way you market your services and attract the clients you want.
Doing great work brings clients back. Giving people a reason to choose you gets them through the door.
You can care deeply about your clients.
Put hours into your training.
Do beautiful work.
But someone who hasn't booked with you yet needs to understand what makes that work worth choosing.
Your website, your posts, and the way you talk about your services have to help them see it.
You put time into your marketing, but you're never quite sure whether you're doing it right. Or whether it feels like you.
If that feels familiar, we get it.
You're busy looking after clients and running a business. Finding the words for what makes your business worth choosing shouldn't have to be another job.
That's where this exercise comes in.
Here's what you'll have when you're done.
- Who you are. What you stand for and what you want to be known for.
- What you do and why you do it. The care, choices, and experience behind your work.
- Why someone should choose you. What makes your business worth booking over your competition.
- Who your clients are. What they want, what matters to them, and what they need to hear from you.
- How to present your business. The words, look, and feel that bring it all together.
You leave with all those answers written down in one place, in words that sound like you.
Keep them beside you when you write a post.
Share them with the person building your website.
Use them to shape your consultations and explain what makes your services worth paying for.
So when it's time to write a page, plan your content, or make an ad, you have your starting point.
You know who you are.
You know who you're for.
And you know what you want people to understand about you.
You don't need marketing experience to do this exercise. You don't even need to know how to explain your business yet.
Just bring what you know. The exercise will help you work through the rest.
Here's how to do it.
- Download the exercise PDF. Save it to your device. You'll upload it in the next step.
The ChatGPT exercise.pdf357 KB - Open ChatGPT and start a new chat. Drag the PDF into the message box, or use the attachment button to upload it. Wait for it to finish uploading.
- Copy this message, paste it into that chat, and send it with the PDF.
Please read the attached PDF and guide me through the complete Booked Out Beauty exercise, following its instructions in order. Start with Phase 1, explain briefly what we are going to do, and ask me the first question. Ask one question at a time, wait for my answers, and do not skip ahead or create the final answers before we have worked through the process.
- Answer the questions one at a time. Give real details about your business, your clients, and what matters to you. Keep your services and a few client reviews nearby if that helps.
- Save your blueprint when it's done. If something doesn't sound like you, ask ChatGPT to make changes. Then save your finished document so you can come back to it whenever you need it.
A little tip: say your answers out loud.
We recommend Wispr Flow, which turns what you say into written text. It's a handy way to talk through your answers instead of typing everything. Typing works too.
You don't need polished sentences or marketing words. Talk about your business the way you'd explain it to us.
Plan for about an hour or so.
Give yourself some uninterrupted time. The exercise goes into detail, so you may want longer if you have lots to share or need to gather reviews. You can take a break and come back.
Want to see how to do it?
Here's a quick example of loading the exercise into ChatGPT and answering the first question.
Here's an example of what you'll have when you're done.
Take a look at this finished example for June Hair Studio, a made-up hair-colour business. Yours will be about your business, your clients, and what makes you worth choosing.

A little bonus: help with your marketing, whenever you need it.
Your finished document isn't just something to save and put away.
Upload it to ChatGPT, and you have a starting point for new ideas, your website, your posts, your emails, and even conversations with clients.
All shaped around your business, the clients you want, and what makes you worth choosing.
Open a new chat in ChatGPT, upload your finished document, and send this message with it:
Please read my attached brand document and use it as our starting point whenever we work together in this chat. Help me with my marketing using what it says about my business, my clients, what makes me different, and how I want to sound. Keep the words simple and natural. If you need information that isn't in the document, ask me instead of making it up. Before we start, tell me briefly what you've understood about my business.
Then ask for what you need: a post, an email, a page for your website, or ideas for your next ad. Tell it what you're working on, and keep talking until it feels right.
Pin that chat so it's easy to find.
Give it a name like “My marketing helper” and come back to the same chat when you need a hand. That way, you don't have to explain your business from scratch each time.
If you start another new chat, upload your document there too.
We're so excited for you!
We truly believe this is going to help you so much. Having these answers to come back to can change the way you feel about marketing your business.
